Joadja Country Estate
This project involved handcrafting a set of traditional timber trusses and outdoor post and beam framing for a prestigious country holiday home set high on a ridgeline overlooking the glorious Southern Highlands.
The use of our dominant timber frame, natural stone, and swathes of glass grounds the home in its surroundings, providing a sense of permanence to the estate. The huge span of the timber trusses adds to the sense of spaciousness gained through all the glass, effortlessly transitioning the family out of city life and into the tranquillity of this stunning property.
Traditional Australian materials such as the Ironbark trusses, sandstone, and steel roofing define the down to earth homestead feel, while their scale provides a real sense of elegance. The Builder, KMI Builders, won the Master Builders Association award for Best Use of Structural Timber 2019 for this project.
The timber feature trusses we crafted for this project included 250mm x 200mm Ironbark beams at a massive 10.2m long. We crafted the frames in our workshop and then craned them into place on top of KMI Builders pre-erected wall frames and beams.
